Moshe Safdie, known for designing Habitat 67, created Marina Bay Sands hotel, casino, and shopping mall complex by organizing it around principal axes and an intricate network of dynamic urban crossing roads. This design enhances Marina Bay Sands’ connection to its city surroundings by providing directionality as well as public meeting places.
This project is also distinguished by a series of garden terraces that extend tropical scenery from marina to waterfront. Moshe Safdie also commissioned five international artists to create eight monumental public art installations at Marina Bay Sands; their works animate its architecture and public spaces such as James Carpenter, Antony Gormley and Ned Kahn among them.
